Q:   How can I join or get more information?

A:   The FAQ's below should answer most of you questions.

To JOIN or get more info, Click HERE to go to our Contact Us page.  Call or Email our Corps Director, Bob Marsman or Recruiting Director, Rhys Henson.

Q:   Do I have to be a former member of the Brigadiers to join the Alumni?

A:   No.  The Alumni is open to any & all Brass players, Drummers, Percussionists and Guard from any corps, marching band, concert band, etc.

Q:   Are there dues or fees?

A:   No.  Belonging to the Brigadiers Alumni is completely free of charge.

Q:   I don't own a horn, (drum, sticks, etc.).  Do I need to buy my own?

A:   No.  The Brigadiers Alumni supplies all the horns, (drums, sticks, flags, etc.) as well as the uniforms for you to use, completely free of charge.

Q:   I haven't played my trumpet (baritone, trombone, French horn, tuba, drummed, etc.) for 30 years.  Do you think I will be able to get my "chops" back?

A:   Absolutely.  The Brigadiers Alumni has a staff of professional instructors that work to help everyone regain and improve their individual playing skills.  You will find that it will all come back to you fairly quickly.  Join today!

Q:   Do you use "G" pitched bugles?

A:   No.  The Alumni switched to "standard" pitched instruments in 2011. (Bb trumpets, F mellophones, Bb/C baritones & tubas.)  We did this for several reasons.  Almost all of the Jr. corps and many of the Sr. corps, including the Brigadiers Competition Corps, now use standard pitched brass instead of the "G" pitched bugles.  In the coming years as these younger players come to join the ranks of the Alumni, they won't have to adjust to playing a different pitched horn.  It will also make it easier for any non drum corps brass players to join the Alumni as well.

Q:   I have a busy schedule.  What if I can't make a rehearsal or performance?

A:   While we hope that you can make all our rehearsals and performances, we know that everybody has busy schedules.  It's not a problem if you have to miss one occasionally.  We always strive for excellence, and also expect people to put in some practice time at home as well, but the Alumni is about the love, the fun and the enjoyment of performing with a drum corps without the pressures of competition.

Q:   When are the rehearsals and performances?

A:   Full corps rehearsals are on Sundays from 1pm - 5pm (Feb. - Sept.)  The Holiday Brass Ensemble rehearsals are on Sundays also. (Sept. - Nov.)

Full corps performances are mostly on Saturdays or Sundays scattered throughout the spring, summer & fall.   Please Note:  If we perform on a Sat. we do NOT rehearse on that Sunday.  That way we don't tie up your whole weekend.

Q:   Do I have to memorize all the music?

A:   No.  The Alumni uses music stands and music for all our concert performances.  The only music that needs to be memorized are 2 or 3 parade tunes.  Even those can be played using music on a lyre if need be.

Q:   I'm not able to march anymore.  Can I, should I still join?

A:   Absolutely.  Most of our performances are stand-still (no drill) concerts.  We do march in a few parades, but it is not a problem if you need to sit those out.  Many times we will also play a standstill concert at the end of a parade.  You can just join in for the concert portion.

Q:   I can't perform anymore, but I love drum corps.  Can I still be involved or help out?

A:   Absolutely.  You can join the Alumni Association. (No dues)  The Alumni Association runs the BINGO and other fund-raisers that provides the funding to run the drum corps.  The Association is always happy to have more people to help out at bingo and other fund-raisers.  The Corps also needs Support Staff to help out at rehearsals and performances as well.  Also, if you have special skills like photography, videographer, writer, web designer, etc. please let us know.  We can always use you.

Click HERE to go to the Alumni Association page for more information or contact Bob Marsman to get involved.

Q:   When is the best time to join the Brigadiers Alumni or the Alumni Association?

A:   JOIN NOW !  Click HERE to go to our Contact Us page.

- We look forward to having you as part of the Brigadiers Alumni Organization -
